APARTMENTS ON THE GIUDECCA, HISTORIC CENTRE OF VENICE
Staying on a peaceful, beautiful island, 15 minutes from Piazza San Marco
Our rental apartments in Venice are also located in the less touristy, mainly residential zones inhabited by Venetians. Some of our holiday apartments are located on the Giudecca, a group of islands separated from the rest of the old centre of Venice by the canal bearing its name. It is the ideal zone for those who wish to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and tranquillity of the lagoon during their stay in this magical city.
This part of Venice takes its name, Giudecca, from the first Jewish settlement on the island before the establishment of the Ghetto.
If you book one of our rental apartments in this area of Venice during the month of July, you will be able to take part in the Festa del Redentore (The Festival of the Redeemer) which takes place in the Basilica del Redentore, a church designed by Palladio. It is a very picturesque festival during which the Venetians gather in boats in St. Mark’s Basin to admire the fireworks which are set off at midnight.
Another church not to be missed when choosing one of our apartments in this part of Venice is the 17th century Chiesa delle Zitelle which is thought to have been designed by Andrea Palladio. The name derives from the house of the Zitelle (old maids), a building established in 1561 which gave shelter to needy young girls who, because of their beauty, were led into prostitution.
Staying in one of the apartments for rent in the Giudecca district of Venice you will only be a stone’s throw from other important buildings, which often also host exhibitions not to be missed, such as the Palazzo dei Tre Oci or the majestic Molino Stucky, an ancient Venetian mill converted into a luxury hotel.
Although the apartments in this part of Venice are further from the tourist areas, this zone is also an ideal location for visiting the San Marco district. It only takes 15 minutes by vaporetto to reach Piazza San Marco. Our apartments for rent in the Giudecca zone will ensure that your stay more closely resembles the daily life of the Venetians and, from the tranquility of the island, you will be in a unique position to enjoy the beauty of the lagoon.
