APARTMENTS FOR VENICE’S INTERNATIONAL BIENNALE ART EXHIBITION
A perfect place to combine art and culture from around the world
If you are thinking of booking a holiday in Venice
and would like to be there for one of its most important cultural events, you
could choose one of our rental apartments in the lagoon city.
This would be the best way to experience the
famous Venice Biennale, one of the most important and prestigious art
exhibitions in the world. The principal aim of this historic initiative is to
promote new artistic trends by organising international exhibitions of
contemporary art. Because its importance
is recognised the world over, the Italian term “biennale” is used universally as
it is synonymous with the great international event, regardless of the actual
frequency.
The name given to this event,
which was established in 1893 by a group of Venetian intellectuals, used to
refer to the biennial frequency of the exhibitions. One of the more important exhibitions worth a
mention is the Biennale di Arte e di Architettura, together with the Venice
International Film Festival at the Lido.
The latter first took place in 1932 and is the oldest film festival in
the world. In 1998, Paolo Baratta, the President of the Venice Biennale, carried
out a further reorganisation of the structure of the Biennale, establishing the
exhibition for national pavilions, the international exhibition of the curator
of the Biennale and ancillary events.
Previously, the Biennale only held exhibitions for national pavilions. As a result of these changes, the new model meant
that there was a need for more exhibition space and that continues today with the
Arsenale currently involved in an enlargement and restoration project. The new model has also increased the number of
countries participating. In 2015, 89
countries took part, making the Biennale into the world’s premier exhibition of
contemporary art. Since the end of the
90s, it has been increasingly involved in national initiatives with guided
visits and different activities involving schools, universities and research
institutes with the aim of spreading the creative spirit amongst the younger
generation. The opportunities for
research and production aimed at young generations of artists are also of
increasing importance. To have the
opportunity to visit Venice during the Biennale would be a wonderful experience
for any traveller. For an artist, or
lover of art and culture, however, it would be all the more so as the Biennale
has long been a very important cultural event.
Our comfortable rental apartments are ready to
welcome you and to ensure that you spend a fascinating holiday in Venice for
the Biennale.
